9/15/2020 0 Comments Signs Your Dog is HappyIs my dog happy with his life? This is a question that every loving dog owner asked. As a fur parent we desire to provide a safe home, trustworthy company, and happy life for our dog. Our dog cannot talk-or at least not in the way humans do- that many times we are left to guess and just trusting our instinct. How can you tell if a dog is happy? We all want to make sure our dog is happy every day and fortunately, there are signs that can help us understand whether our dog is feeling happy or not.
What are the signs that your dog is happy? Read down below to find out. Relaxed body Is there a happy dog body language? Just like how body language can give away how a person feels (like if he or she is comfortable or not) body language can also serve as a sign for dog owners to get an idea of whether their furry friend is happy or not. Relaxed eyes, ears, mouth, and body are one of the indications that a dog is feeling happy or comfortable. A dog that is feeling happy and relaxed has their eyes in their normal shape while their gaze is soft, ears are in an at ease position, and the body is not tensed but calm and relaxed. Healthy appetite What does the eating appetite of your dog say about how he feels? Well, generally speaking, a happy dog has a healthy appetite. They are their usual self that is excited to "feast" on their food. But what if they don't want to eat or you noticed that their appetite has dropped? Refusal to eat or drop in appetite is a sign that something is going on with your dog. It could be that your pup is feeling unwell. It could also be that your dog is feeling lonely, or they are stressed-out, or anxious. Watch out also for when your dog's appetite has suddenly increased. Abrupt increase in appetite can also be a sign of a disease. Sleeps well A relaxed and happy dog sleeps well. It's not common to see their tongue out during a good and comfortable sleep. On the opposite, if a dog is struggling to sleep it could indicate that the dog is stressed. Displays excitement when seeing you gets home Another sign of a happy dog is when they are excited to see you arrive home. A dog that shows excitement whenever you get home indicates that they are happy in your company and you two have a good relationship. When your dog suddenly doesn't show the excitement and "energy" they usually have, something could be up with your dog and you might need to bring them to the vet. Actively enjoying playtime Happy dogs will not just lie down or stay in their area all day and all night. Happy dogs are active though depending on numerous factors like breed where some dog breeds commonly have higher energy than the others, happy dogs will not be confined to one place but will enjoy playtime and would love to explore things. Not showing destructive behavior A dog that is happy and getting sufficient stimulation, as well as dog and human interaction, will not likely display destructive behavior. Certain actions Does your pup love to cuddle with you on the couch? If yes, this means they love and trust your company and they are happy being around and close to you. Some other actions that suggest that your dog is happy are when they expose their belly to you and when they use their whole body as they wag their tail!
